I too feel that RealPlayer is better for me than Windows MediaPlayer.

As usual Microsoft products tend to slow down your system .
Windows Media player lives up to that bad reputation. Not as good as Media Player 9
I prefer multiple players
players each one with its good and bad points.
Real Player and VLC are much better for building your media library and playing videos.
Evil player is the most flexible and lightest for playing your audio Mp3 files.
Give this combination a try. I am sure you will like it

What about MPlayer Classic?
Good DirectShowFilter integration, lightweight, good performance

Jet audio is much better, light to memory, doesn't use much of system resources...
has much more features them MP12...
so i prefer winamp, VLC, Jet Audio and Media player classic over MP12...

i amazing to use wmp. I'd like to get the ultimate version cause i need for my job

Still, there is no WMP 12 available for XP users. Link provided by informer.software leads to WMP 11. I have tried to find download link, of beta versions or full, even o warez and rapidshare pages - but nothing.

For now it is only available for Windows 7 users (not sure about Vista).

WMP 12 will be available for XP and Vista after the final release of Windows 7.

strange... But I don't think it is a real threat to your system.

I made a HUGE mistake by accidentally install Windows Media Player 10. It does not even come close to Version 9. All attempts to uninstall version 10 again and reload version 9 were stopped by Microsoft's a times very strange download process.

PS: Windows Player 9 was one of the nicest gifts I ever received from Microsoft. What is wrong in that place? Does anyone remember Howard Hughes and what happened to him? I would like to rate these programs, but I do not know what "best" and "worst" means, I just see five numbers.
